Getty Images Offers New Editorial Footage Collection with Sky News

SEATTLE & LONDON, May 20, 2010 - Getty Images, Inc., the leading creator and distributor of visual content and other media, today announced it has signed a four-year agreement with Sky News to licence and distribute its award-winning editorial footage. Covering the world’s top news, sport and entertainment events, footage from Sky News will now be available to Getty Images’ customers around the world from 24 hours after it was first aired.

Getty Images will also be licensing selections from Sky News’ vast archival footage collection, which spans the last 21 years and includes powerful footage of historical events, including the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Asian tsunami, Gulf and Iraq Wars, 9/11 and the London Terror Attacks. The entire Getty Images footage collection, both online and offline, totals approximately 50,000 hours and the Sky News will add thousands more hours to this. All Sky News footage aired from 6th May 2010 onwards, including the UK General Election, is now also available in HD format.
