Alamy hits 27 million

* 5 million stock images added to Alamy this year
* Content boosted by upsurge in US contributor numbers
* Alamy now represents 600 picture agencies and archive collections

Alamy finishes 2011 with an amazing 27 million images online and for the first time has added more than 5 million images in a 12 month period. The collection has been boosted by an upsurge in registrations, content from US contributors and increased submissions of news and reportage images.

US contributor recruitment has been led by Alex Bortkiewicz, Director of Photography, who has spent the year targeting US photographers. The content team also attended PACA and Visual Connections which boosted picture agency submissions. Alamy now represents 600 picture agencies and archive collections.

Rachel Wakefield, Alamy’s Head of Sales commented: “Our image collection continues to diversify and we are complementing it with the addition of video clips in 2012. It is important to continue to offer our customers the best choice of content, delivered through the fastest search engine and supported by the most efficient customer service”.
