The Associated Press and Corbis Images to launch ‘Perceptions’ to showcase photos

Corbis Images and The Associated Press are rolling out a monthlong social media photo showcase called “Perceptions.”
Seattle, Washington (February 6, 2012) - Corbis Images (www.corbisimages.com) and The Associated Press (www.ap.org) are rolling out a monthlong social media photo showcase called "Perceptions." The showcase on Facebook seeks commentary from people who view selected images from the cross-distribution collaboration between the two companies announced in January.

Here's how it works: "Perceptions" will be accessible on each company's Facebook page at facebook.com/apimages and facebook.com/corbisimages from Feb. 6 through March 5.  Each day a new photo will be posted from the award-winning collections of AP Images, the commercial photo licensing division of AP, and Corbis. Those who view the picture will have a chance to post their perception and share their comments with Facebook friends.

Each week during the promotional period prizes will be awarded for commenters. Prizes range from from a $50 iTunes® gift certificate to an Apple® iPad® 2 for the randomly selected winner.

"Perceptions" is a continuation of a cross-distribution partnership combining the strengths of two of the world's leading organizations for compelling and authoritative imagery. Corbis has traditionally led the industry in advertising, commercial and archival images, while AP is the industry leader in breaking news, sports and entertainment, and an archival news photo collection dating back more than 90 years.

Under the agreement in the United States, Corbis images are available on AP Images' portal, www.apimages.com/corbis.aspx, and AP photographs are accessible on the Corbis website at www.corbisimages.com.
