Pocketstock leads the mobile photography rush .
Pocketstock, the innovative stock photography company, has launched its new iPhone app and opened the market up to billions of new stock shooters.
“It’s the very first commercial stock photography app that will allow contributors to shoot, add metadata: captions, keywords, model and property releases, without leaving the app” says Russell Glenister, CEO of Pocketstock.
He adds, “It’s possible for a contributor now to shoot an image and have it live on our site for sale within 30 minutes. When I got into the industry it took 3 months and for many stock shooters, it still takes a month for their images to go live at other agencies.”
The app, which will soon be followed by an Andriod version was 6 months in the making and has all the sophistication of a camera on steroids. “If you can imagine your Canon Mark II being able to shoot and handle all the image essentials, such as model releases, that’s what we have created. It’s going to change the way images are supplied and opens up the door to billions of potential new images. It’s crowd sourcing gone mad”, Tavis Wright, Head of Creative at Pocketstock pointed out with great enthusiasm.
Contributors will earn a minimum of 35% of the royalties Pocketstock makes from their phone images. “This market is going be huge”, Russell Glenister said. “It feels like the Wild West and we are driving the first vehicle to arrive”, he continued, rather worryingly for the present stock photography agencies who make their money from traditional supply.
This is the revolution the stock photography industry has been waiting for. It’s going to reignite a really stagnant supply chain and open up the World to “Local Content on a Global Scale” as Pocketstocks strapline promises.
You can download the Pocketstock app from the Apple app store or from Pocketstock.
