Alamy hits 26 million

Collection grows to 26 million stock images, Largest collection of hi-res images online available to purchase, Contributor registrations up by 10%

Independent picture giant Alamy reaches 26 million making it the largest online collection of stock images in the world.

Alamy is proving as popular as ever amongst the photographic community with registrations from photographers up by 10% in the last two months. Recent additions include award winning photojournalist and documentary history and arts filmmaker Frederique Cifuentes and the Lake County Discovery Museum's collection of 355,000 postcards dating from 1890 to 1960 from Universal Images Group.

Alan Capel, head of content at Alamy commented: “Registrations are up showing that the supply of good photography continues. It's also been a great year for signing up contributors from every corner of the globe.”

“We still get subjects like business meetings, tropical beaches, families in autumnal leaves and water droplets because these are clichés for good reason and customers love them. However, Alamy is probably the only place where you will find all of this stuff alongside obscure vintage postcards and award winning photojournalism. ”

Rachel Wakefield, head of sales at Alamy added: “In the early days customers often came to Alamy for images they couldn't find elsewhere. Now, we're their first choice with an unrivalled diversity of high quality and eclectic content.”
